Generic: Sodium Fusidate (Fusidic Acid) 2% Topical
Form: Ointment 2gm/100gm
Fusidate Ointment is indicated for treatment of, skin infections caused by Staphylococci, Streptococci, Corynebacterium minutissimum and other Fusidate sensitive organisms. The most important indications being: impetigo, boils, abscess, acne vulgaris,, varicose ulcers, skin grafts, hidradenitis, infected wounds, sycosis barbae, paronychia, folliculitis, carbuncles, erythrasma.
Topical/Cutaneous Skin infections Adult: As a 2% ointment/cream/gel: Apply onto affected area 3-4 times daily until there is improvement. If gauze dressing is used, then frequency of application may be reduced to 1-2 times daily.
Topical/Cutaneous Skin infections Child: As a 2% ointment/cream/gel: Apply onto affected area 3-4 times daily until there is improvement. If gauze dressing is used, then frequency of application may be reduced to 1-2 times daily.
Known hypersensitivity to Fusidic acid, severe hepatic failure.
Fusidic acid disrupts translocation of peptide subunits and elongating the peptide chain of susceptible bacteria, thus inhibiting protein synthesis.
Prolonged treatment should be avoided. Liver impairment. Pregnancy. Caution should be observed when applying Fusidate Ointment near the eye region as this preparation may cause irritation if it gets into the eye.

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.
